Several Pax Christi Maine members took part in the eight day walk from Indian Island to August, starting on Earth Day, April 22 and ending the following Tuesday. The journey was led by Sherri Mitchell, citizen of the Penobscot Nation and Director of the Land Peace Foundation. It was a moving experience whether one walked an entire day or days or attended one of the opening or closing ceremonies or walked alongside the group for even a few steps. The walk was an “invitation to connect, an opportunity to move in loving solidarity with our friends and neighbors and to purposely walk toward the world that we most want to inhabit.” On behalf of Pax Christi Maine, Mary Ellen Quinn offered closing prayers at the Troy Union Church on Friday, April 25.
